Som de fleste store opfindelser, var opdagelsen af Formthotics™ meget simpel. Dr. Baycroft slentrede langs stranden en dag, og blev pludselig opmærksom på, at mens hans bare fødder sank i det bløde sand, formede de et støttende aftryk efter hans fod. Formthotics blev født ud fra hans observationer og erkendelsen af, at vores fødder aldrig har været designet til at klare de barske overflader af vores moderne miljø, som oftest er hårde og flade. Dr. Baycroft vidste, at ved at skabe den tætteste mulige kontakt mellem en patiens fod, ortotik og sko, ville foden få den bedst mulige neutrale støtte. En støtte som foden har behov for, præcis som den støtte det bløde sand på stranden giver foden.

Like most great inventions, the discovery of Formthotics™ was very simple. While strolling along the beach one day, Dr. Baycroft was suddenly aware that while his bare feet were able to sink into the soft sand and form a supporting imprint (his footprint), most modern surfaces are hard and flat. Formthotics were born from this observation and a realisation that our feet were never designed to cope with the unforgiving surfaces of our modern day environment. Dr. Baycroft knew that by creating the closest possible contact between a patient’s foot, orthotic and shoe, the foot would be given the natural support it needs, similar to the support provided by the soft sand.
